Did you know research has been done to show that dogs help lower blood pressure?
Join us for Bark for Your Heart. On Sunday, March 16 we will host a stroll for dogs and their families starting from The First National Bank of South Miami (5750 Sunset Place) down Sunset Drive to raise funds for heart disease.
The day begins at 8am with families enjoying the various food and vendor tables with their four-legged friends and then, at 9:30am the dog bone ribbon is cut/chewed to begin the leisurely stroll. Upon their return, the guests will remain for various contests and prizes.
Walking is heart healthy for both you and your dog. Research has shown that dog owners were more physically active than non-owners because they walk their pets. Other research has revealed the calming effects of pets. Research has shown that the loyalty and love pets display can reduce stress, anxiety, depression and loneliness in their owners and increase their sense of well-being and self-esteem. Research has also shown pets to reduce blood pressure.
